The bit project

Restoration of an 1896 Mors car

It’s a Mors with a V4 engine, bodied as a “dog-car” (or “dos-à-dos”), produced in 1896 by the French manufacturer’s workshops in the 15th arrondissement of Paris.
A rare and precious part of our heritage, it is the oldest Mors in the world.
Deprived of several of its mechanical components during the Second World War, in order to restore it to a configuration as close as possible to its original state, and to enable it to live, i.e. to drive, this Mors must benefit from expert technical care, carried out by the best specialists – who, fortunately, are French, or even from the Charente region.
To finance this operation, the Circuit des Remparts association has launched a public subscription in partnership with the Fondation du Patrimoine in 2019.
Once the Mors is “back on the road”, it will become an ambassador for the city of Angoulême and the partners involved in its rebirth, as it takes part in popular events, particularly motoring events.
